What Is US Careers Online?
US Careers Online is an educational resource training program designed to teach young people (ages 15-21)
about new career and vocational opportunities available to them, not only in North Carolina, but also all
across the nation. The developer is Jim Babson, owner of Hilton Educational Services of Clayton, North Carolina.

Our Mission Is:
* to educate young people about career opportunities
* to raise student’s interest in taking advantage of a high school education
* to ensure employers will have an ample workforce for the future
* to assist in the economic development of North Carolina and the nation

How Does It Work?
US Careers Online produces educational resources, primarily videos, which will be accessed via a web site: www.uscareersonline.com. The videos will give a fast-paced, condensed overview (6 minutes) of hundreds of
industries, careers, and job markets. They will include information about the educational requirements, hiring policies,
and specific needs of each industry or profession.

Who Will Use the Resources
* Public Schools
* Private Schools
* Community Colleges
* Libraries
* Guidance Counselors and Teachers
* Employers
* Anyone with access to the Internet

How It Will Benefit Students
* It will provide exposure to students who otherwise would have no awareness of the possibilities in the job market.
* It will provide direction to students who might not be motivated to finish school.
* It will provide instructions on soft skills related to their job performance such as work ethic, dress, attitude,
interviewing, etc.

How It Will Benefit Employers
* They will communicate their messages:
* What they are all about
* Which skills they are looking for (i.e. what is needed in the job pool)
* Where the future opportunities are
* Welcome students to come “on board”

How It Will Benefit Educators
* It will get students more involved with school by creating an interest in a job they think they would like
* It will show employers connecting the need to finish high school with getting interesting jobs
* It will help students focus on possibilities of what can happen if they stay in school
* It will relate the soft skills that are important for success in school to job performance
